Rachel Segal violin
Rachel Segal is a violinist, arranger, and educator whose career has spanned the globe with posts as Concertmaster and other titled orchestral positions in the USA, Portugal, and Finland. She spent twelve seasons as a tenured member of the Colorado Symphony and as Concertmaster of Central City Opera, is the first violinist of the Fairmount String Quartet, and Principal violin of Inscape Chamber Orchestra. She also frequently performs with Washington Concert Opera, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, PostClassical Ensemble, Philly POPS!, and the orchestras of Opera Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Ballet.
Rachel is experienced in the Argentine Tango style in addition to the classical tradition, and can be heard on recordings with the Colorado Symphony and the Fairmount String Quartet. She holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Yale School of Music and is a champion of new music with a focus on works by composers from traditionally underrepresented communities. Rachel is the Founder and Executive Director of The Primavera Fund and Chamber Music Director of the Music and Mindfulness camp.
