Chandra Cervantes horn
A graduate of both Northwestern University and San Francisco Conservatory, Chandra Cervantes has held positions with The United States Army Field Band, Tulsa Philharmonic, Shanghai Broadcasting Symphony, and Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Now an active freelance musician in the Washington, DC/Baltimore area, she is a member of the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Barclay Brass, Washington Concert Opera, Washington Symphonic Brass, and Inscape, while also performing regularly with Wolf Trap Orchestra, Washington National Opera, Post Classical Ensemble, Baltimore Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra and American Pops Orchestra. For the last few years Chandra has played and spoken at the Wintergreen Music Festival, collaborating with musicians from around the country, and was recently appointed as Principal Horn of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival.
Exploring opportunities as a pit musician, her more recent performances include Broadway Center Stage productions of Sunset Boulevard and Bye Bye Birdie and Anastasia at the John F. Kennedy Center, Into the Woods at Ford’s Theater, Signature Theatre and the Kennedy Center, and She Loves Me, Ragtime and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum at Signature Theatre.
While maintaining a private home studio, Chandra is also Lecturer of Horn at University of Maryland Baltimore County and can be heard in several recordings, including four with the Washington Symphonic Brass, as well as work with The Maryland Symphony, Post Classical Ensemble, Barclay Brass and Inscape.
During the pandemic she pursued two additional degrees in both Psychology and Business Administration.
